Getting started with Yoga

Yoga is a great way to start the day. You can do it anywhere, and you don't need any special equipment. There are several methods of yoga to choose from depending on what you plan to get out of it. The most popular today is health Yoga. This form of Yoga is used to help you shape up and improve your health and well being.

A basic Yoga session can last from fifteen minutes up to forty-five minutes. A beginner should start out slow and gradually build up to a longer session. Here is how a basic yoga session goes.

Warm up For beginner use the warm up poses as your entire practice.
Standing poses Standing poses are great for people trying to lose weight.
Sitting poses These contribute to shaping your buttocks and legs
Inverted and balance poses - These poses improve your concentration and focus.
Backbends This pose releases tension in the front body, and shoulders.

The next type of Yoga is often referred to as meditation Yoga. You use the same poses, but the focus is turned inwards. Breathing techniques help achieve a higher state of consciousness while performing poses. This type of Yoga is for people seeking spiritual cleansing as well as physical.

If your not quiet sure how to began ask around, chances are there is a class near you. Or check out your local book store for books and DVDs that you can do at home. You will be amazed at how much more relaxed, and energized you feel after just one session.
