Sneaking in nutrition

How can you sneak nutritious foods under your family's radar to get them to eat healthy foods? You have to disguise food, hide food, and sneak in healthy ingredients to those members of your family that are as finicky as Morris the cat. Every family has those people living with them that don't want to eat any vegetables or fruit and some members who exist only on junk food.

Here are the methods of sneaking healthy foods under their radar:

MAKE THE FOOD FUN

Kids will eat food they get to play with! Besides creating mountains out of their mashed potatoes, let them really dig in and have some fun. Give them foods they can push around with their forks to make those mashed potatoes really look like mountains. Let them put small pieces of broccoli, and celery on to create trees. Small cut up pieces of green peppers can become bushes, with kidney beans masquerading as whatever your kids choose them to be.

Give the kids a bowl of yogurt and several bowls filled with healthy food items such as broccoli florets, halved cherry tomatoes, dried fruits, cut up nuts, and cereal shapes. This way they can create until their hearts content and have a great time while eating their favorite healthy foods. By the way, the stipulation is that whatever they make, they must eat.

BAKE IN HEALTHY FOODS

Bake in those nourishing ingredients by utilizing whole-wheat pasta flour instead of white bleached flour. You will be boosting your family's fiber while giving them good food to eat. Utilize applesauce as a base for muffins, and cookies. They will taste really sweet and be very nutritional at the same time. Put applesause in brownies, and cakes instead of all that sugar. Add ground flaxseed or wheat germ into the batters for cookies, muffins, and breads. Shredded zucchini, or carrots, can be mixed into muffins, cakes and quick breads. Make banana bread for the entire family. Mix other healthy ingredients into the batter such as; dried fruits, diced up walnuts, pureed squash, pumpkin or even those bananas.

Create super healthy pizza with vitamin-rich vegetables mixed in very cleverly so that your family won't notice the different. Add in broccoli, spinach, peppers, and onions. Puree into the pizza sauce or marinara sauce for a whole wheat pasta dish, mix healthy ingredients such as; spinach, green or red peppers, onions, sweet peppers, zucchini, and small cut up mushrooms. Meatloaf will hide any kind of food you want to add to it, such as green and red peppers, celery, kidney beans, mushrooms,
