Also known as Sealhenry Olumide Samuel, you may or may not remember Seal's first appearance in the public eye as being a vocalist on Adamski's techno hit, "Killer" but it didn't take the man long to become an artist and celebrity in his own right, firstly with the terminally catchy hit, "Crazy." With three Grammy Awards (Song of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and Record of the Year categories) and over 15 000 000 albums sold, he's a very successful man indeed. The soul, pop, rock and R&B singer hails from England, born on February 19, 1963 of Nigerian and Brazilian parents, but is now an internationally acclaimed household name. If his
blog is anything to go by, he's also a fine writer and photographer. He also has a degree in architecture.
Hits that followed include "Prayer For the Dying," the Grammy Award-winning "Kiss From A Rose," and "Don't Cry" (all from 1994's Seal II), and "Love's Divine." On 2008's album, "Soul" he covers Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come." Many critics are calling this album the tour-de-force of his career.
From his surprising entry into the world of popular music, he's become a bit of a safe bet - but perhaps that's an unfair criticism, considering his twenty year success story. He can certainly be relied up to soothe, relax and entertain.
His findness for models saw him date Tyra Banks (he wrote "When A Man is Wrong" after they split up), Tatjana Patitz and then finally marry Heidi Klum in 2005. They got married on a beach in Mexico. He is apparently a devoted stepfather to Heidi's sone Leni as well as father to their two sons, Henry Gnther Ademola Dashtu Samuel or Henry Samuel, Jr. and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel.
At 6' 4" Seal is a striking figure. The distinctive scars on his face are the result of a disease called discoid lupus erythematosus, which he suffered from as a child and which apparently also left him without hair.
He is also left handed. He enjoys playing tennis, snowboarding, and surfing the internet in his free time.
He has openly criticized rappers for portraying women negatively in both their videos and lyrics.
The 45 year old soul singer's last single is "I Can't Stand the Rain."

I can't recommend the website enough - artists who blog and share their other art, like Seal's photos, are just so much more accessible.
