Tips to alleviate boredom

If you're a victim of boredom then you know how depressing day to day life can get. What is the point of waking up and doing the blah must-do tasks when there is nothing to look forward to? Perhaps you're in the middle of a phase, or maybe you've had a tendancy to get bored your entire life. Whichever the case, this guide will help you change your ways.

Tips to alleviate boredom.

HOBBIES: These are the things most people complain about not having time for. Consider yourself lucky if you have time to be bored and new hobbies to try out. If you're broke and it's money that is the problem and not time, then stop by the local library and do things cheaply.

There are plenty of hobbies that require very little in the way of materials. For example, origami- all you need is paper and you don't have to go for the colorful patterned stuff. Just invest in scissors and a ruler and you can use any paper you have on hand.

Another example of a free hobby- pick up an exercise style like tai chi or yoga. Using a library book and whatever space you have available to you, you'd be surprised how far you can go with this hobby. And it's good for you!

Or why not bird watch? Take a walk to the park or explore your backyard. With a simple guide (also from the library) you can identify as many birds as possible with your own eyes, and maybe you'll be inspired to start saving for cheap binoculars.

If these hobbies aren't for you there are a million others- look for something that doesn't require much more than brain power and a library book and you'll save your pocket book from taking hits while you decide whether or not you like what you're doing. Finding a good hobby is all about experimentation.

GOALS: Goals can keep you from being bored. Maybe you want to have a certain amount of money by a certain time. You could pick up extra chores/odd jobs. Maybe you want to know how to speak a new language so you can impress your friends. Perhaps you'd like to know how to paint the sunset before easter morning. Goals will make all your hobbies seem much more interesting and important- instead of something it takes to much effort to get together when you could just watch television.

PRACTICE: Practice is important, not just because it makes perfect. Practice can help you reach your goals and it will take a lot of wasted time off your hands. Practice may start off seeming boring and something to dread, but as soon as you get started you'll change your mind. Especially if you make regular advancements. If you absolutely hate practice then you may want to reconsider your hobby and goals.
