There is some confusion in the general public as to how astrology affects our love lives. This confusion comes from the misconception that astrology stops at the sun sign. In astrology the sun represents how others see you and your individuality. It is the spotlight. Your will. But there are other planets involved in astrology and each of them was aligned in a specific sign at the time of your birth indicating how each planet would affect you. It just so happens that four of them have a lot to do with our daily interactions and love lives. The fact is if you want to use astrology to help you in romantic dealings you should learn more than just what your sun sign is. You should also try to understand how the inner planets affect our daily lives.

The first planet from the sun is Mercury. It is the planet of the mind, organization(or lack there of) communication, memory and imagination. Have you ever asked someone a question and what they say just doesn't make sense or it sounds like they are speaking a different language? It might be because the sign that mercury was in at your birth is in a difficult aspect to the other person's mercury sign. For example... If someone has their mercury in Virgo, they communicate through facts. They feel the need to know every angle of a question and sometimes might have little patience for sloppiness. If someone like this were talking to someone who's mercury was in Pisces they would find someone who seems to have little basis to their knowledge and they just sort of know what they know. This might cause the mercury virgin to wonder if his counterpart knows left from right. We all have different ways of communicating and organizing and astrology shows us this in a way that helps us to understand each other better. Understanding the effects of mercury is often a critical fist step in understanding our relationships. Wouldn't you say that communication is important in a relationship?

The second planet from the sun is Venus and is the planet of LOVE! Not only that, it is also the planet of pleasure, art, entertainment and friendship. Let's say that your Venus is in the sign of Cancer. Above all, you feel the need to be needed. You rarely do the chasing and often need to be brought out of your shell. Those with venus in earth signs would probably suit you well. Their earthy, reassuring love will surely keep you grounded in reality.
