Novel excerpts: Romance

THE DREAM:

She melted into him, yielding like wax, giving like glory. All the confusion,

the doubt, the fear slid away from her. Here was the man of her dreams that

she was holding, the one, the only one that she ever loved. Serena felt like

she was drifting off on a precarious journey. Where his hands dived into her

hair, explored her body she felt herself awaken, come alive. She'd been so

dead, so dorment, so unfeeling. Now she felt all the waves of emtoions, the

tumultuous waves come rippling through her. He pulled her hair not roughly,

but gently, pulled her back, so that he could kiss her deep, longingly, fill

her with his need. Where he filled her with his deep. dark, desire as she

took, she drank it all in like she'd been thirsty for years.

Then she woke up, opened her eyes, it had all been a dream, a warm,

beautiful dream. Where she woke up to reality to find the other side of her

bed empty. The way she had woken up so many mornings, without him

by her side. Then the unbearable, penetrating ache started in her, all

over her body. Where Serena didn't think that she was able to get up from

her bed. She had to get up, had to start the day, to see what the day would

bring. How many times in the morning had she gotten up, had she sensed

him near, felt him near? Serena knew she'd been crying, felt the wet tears

escape on her cheeks. She still missed him terribly, even after all this time,

how did one adjust, adapt, to the pain that still coursed through her?

There where days when Serena felt like she could get by like a breeze,

and other days when she could barely make it down the steps. She didn't

want to face the world, but knew it in her heart that she couldn't lay down

here and do nothing. Where she had to have the courage, the strength to

get up, to go. All the long hours, the lonleness that she'd succumed too,

that she had known since he'd been gone. There was no way she was

any where near ready for another relationship. It had been two years but

still she felt the absence of him so strong.

She had her moments when Serena thought that she could get by

without him, could do things without thinking of him. Then there where

days that could be hard like nails. Then she wasn't interested, wasn't

even looking, didn't want to look. She just went through her every day

routine, doing her thing. It was like she was going through the emotions

not really doing anything that excited her, thrilled her. Serena knew that

eventually she would have to go out there in the real
