It is that time of year again. We are all feeling the Christmas spirit that puts us in the mood to shop. However, the Christmas spirit fails to budget sometimes. We want to get the best gifts for our loved ones. We want this Christmas to be better than the last one. It is ok to do this, but you do not have to put yourself in the money ditch doing it. You can spend wisely on holiday gifts. Most of us think that in order to show our love, we must break the bank. This is not the case.
Their are ways to spend with wisdom. Over the years you learn what works and what doesn't. Don't waste your time trying to figure out the what the perfect gift for someone is who seems to have everything already. Remember, it is the thought that counts. Trust me, with the economy we live, your loved ones won't disown you because you decided to spend a few bucks less on them. They will be thrilled. So, how do you do it? How do you spend wisely on holiday gifts? I'll tell you how.
SHOP FOR HOLIDAY GIFTS BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS
Many of us think we must begin shopping for gifts only around early November to New years. This is not the case. The best time is when it is warm. Off season gifts cost less sometimes. For example, buy Winter items in the Spring. Buy Summer items in the Winter. Stores will reduce the cost of them because they want to make room for the new stuff coming in. Don't wait until " Black Friday", do it now. You can start as early as January.
LOOK FOR SALES
They are out there. Seek out sales. On the weekends sales tend to pop up more. Look for discounts of up to 75%. Look online as well. Get coupons as well. Cut them out of papers.
BUDGET FOR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
Just like most things we budget for, make room for Christmas shopping. In the beginning of the year begin setting aside small amounts of money for the holiday's. This reduces the stress of last minute planning. If you do this consistently, by the time Novermber comes you will have more than enough money to shop for everyone you love.
HAVE A FAMILY GRAB BAG
Now this idea came from something I saw on TV. The whole family participates in a grab bag where each family member writes down person's name. Then they put the name is the bag. The persons name they pull out they must buy a gift for them. The gift can not cost more $40. This way every person gets a gift and no one feels left out. Try it with your family.
SET A SPECIFIC AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR EVERY GIFT
Say to yourself, you will not spend more than $50 for each gift. If you do this, you will control your holiday spending better. You should try it.
Overall, spending wisely for holiday's is possible. You just need to apply yourself. It takes time and implementation. Have a plan and commit to it.
