Best movies ever

by Laura Leigh Fields

Movies are a wonderful form of entertainment. They make us laugh and cry. They comfort and disturb us. Movies offer the words that we can't always say. They are a great way to pass the time, and a fun way to relate to the world at large.

When deciding what the best movie of all time are there are many factors to consider. Many people might choose a movie based on box office sales. Other people may choose their favorite movies based on the obscurity of the message. Opinions vary and that is what makes the world go around.

If someone told me that I could only watch a few movies for the rest of my life, I don't think the choice would be a hard one. While there are some movies that I enjoyed better than others, there are many that I could watch a million times and never get tired of. In my humble opinion, the best movies of all time are the ones that I will never forget.

Vanilla Sky

Vanilla Sky is one of the best movies I have ever watched Tom Cruise act in. It is a story of dreams and reality. It is the tale of the lucid dream and a haunting sense of a false reality. It is the story that echoes in my mind. I can't help but wonder if things will be different "in another life, when we are both cats".

Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction is a story that tells so much and yet so little. John Travolta is the bad guy you just want to know. There is action and intrigue. There's a gimp, things getting blown up, and the five-dollar milkshake at Jack Rabbit Slim's. How could any movie be any better?

Legends of the Fall

Brad Pitt stars as the epiphany of a man. He is a hunter, a son, a lover, a brother, a fighter, and a hero in his own time. This movie spans throughout the years and the relationship of a family. It is the battle and the excitement of the world at large. Legends of the Fall is the movie a person can watch anytime and anywhere but still they will walk away feeling refreshed.

The Butterfly Effect

What if your journals came to life? How would you feel if you could read or write something and everything changed? The Butterfly Effect is the story of how things in the past can change what happens in the future. It is one man's story of how things can and will change. It is the movie that can have a happy ending but only when you believe.

Finding Nemo

Even in cartoon form, Finding Nemo is a story that will warm your heart. A little fish feels that he is too confined by his dad. He wants to get away but soon finds that there is truly no place like the coral reef he calls home. Meanwhile, his father combs the whole ocean to rescue him. He proves there is no distance too far when it comes to bringing your child home where they belong.

Full Metal Jacket

Full Metal Jacket is hands-down one of the best war movies ever created. It is a story of beginnings and the end. Full Metal Jacket is a gruesome graphic tale of the military. It starts at boot camp and follows the troops into war. After seeing this movie, you too, will have the stare.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

After seeing this movie, you will also want to be Jack and Sally. This is a beautiful animated tale of Halloween Town. It is the story of what happens when some of the least likely folks decide to take over Christmas and how views can vary.

Gone With The Wind.

It is hard not to enjoy a movie that has as much to offer as Gone With the Wind. Scarlet has so much and yet so little. This movie is set in the time of the great depression and follows through war and turmoil. There are happy moments and times that you will cry. In the end, maybe you won't give a dang either?

American Beauty

The story of American Beauty is one that we all overlook. It is the tale of finding yourself even when you aren't hunting. It is the story of a family and their tribulations in just a few short weeks. American Beauty is proof that there is beauty in the world, big and small, no matter where you look.

Goodfellas

Goodfellas is a story that you can't help but watch and root for the bad guys. It is the story of a mob and the friendship it entails. Through the good and the bad, they remain true to each other until they are forced to be true to themselves.

No doubt the list could expand for pages and days. There are so many movies that suck us in. If it holds your attention and makes you want to rewind it and watch it again then it is the best movie ever. If you like it that's all that matters.
