Wedding flowers are probably one of the most important details in any wedding. They decorate both the ceremony and reception sites by adding color and texture. With the cost of an average wedding topping $20,000, cutting the cost of flowers is an easy way to save money without sacrificing on the benefits of having flowers.

Consider using silk flowers and arrangements. You can use them as fillers or for arrangements that are far from your guests view. Silk flowers are now made of the highest quality and give the appearance of real flowers. As an added benefit, you can enjoy them after the wedding.

Buy flowers that are in season and readily available. Flowers that need to be ordered from another country are typically much more expensive than ordering flowers that are being grown locally.

Try to limit the size of your bridal party. The smaller your bridal party the smaller the flower expense. By reducing the size of your bridal party you can reduce the flower expense and concentrate on your beautiful bouquet.

Considering holding your wedding during Christmas. Typically, churches and wedding venues are already decorated for the holidays with flowers and other holiday decor. The decorating expense during this season should be minimal.

Many brides are now creating their own arrangements. Consider ordering your flowers from an online wholesaler like rosefarmstogo.com or growersbox.com. Growersbox.com offers brides a wedding in a box package with discounted pricing. You can select the flowers, the colors and the quantity. They also offer many design ideas. These flowers are shipped directly from the farms and so you are guaranteed to receive fresh flowers of the highest quality.  Your local supermarket may also be terrific resource for flowers.  They can typically provide wedding flower arrangements at a discounted price.

Remember that if you decide to create your own arrangements with flowers from an online wholesaler, you are responsible for cleaning and preparing the flowers for use. The web sites offer many tips on how to keep your flowers looking fresh and beautiful.

Another way of saving money on your wedding flowers is by skipping the florist and going to your local supermarket. Many supermarkets now offer full service floral shops at a discounted price.

Finally, try combining some of the tips listed above to maximize your savings even more. For example, holding your wedding during a holiday and ordering flowers that are in season from a local supermarket or an online wholesaler.
