There will hardly be a day in the life of a database professional when he or she would not need to deal with the accuracy of data. Sharpen your SQL skills No matter what database platform is used, SQL is one common language that is used to retrieve the data from the databases. In order to be a successful database professional, it is imperative that your SQL skills are solid. A database professional without strong SQL skills cannot go very far in the long run.Learn and understand the database internals Whether you are a DBA (database administrator) or not, it will always help if you understand the database internals and how databases interact with the system components i.e. memory, storage, CPU. This will eventually help you design better database applications.
Understand the front end data-entry applications Whether you are involved in the database front-end application development or not, it always helps if you understand how the users are entering the data that is being used throughout the enterprise. It also helps in understanding the data entry patterns and usage of the attributes.Learn about data security As explained earlier, data is a valuable asset for an organization.
Like any other valuable asset, security is also very important for the data. Organizations could lose millions of dollars and customer confidence if the data security is violated.
