The case for more complete games

The days when Will White through 75 complete games and pitched 680.0 innings for the Cincinnati Reds in 1879 are no longer among us. In fact the years of pitchers winning over 20 games a season will start to become rare. You start to see the decreases in stats, whether that is due to injuries, or the 5-man rotation's or just the managers decisions to give a certain pitcher a day off, it is starting to become more and more rare to even have 5 or 6 complete games in a season. Last year, 2006, only two pitchers even had 6 complete games C.C. Sabathia and Aaron Harrang, and that is more then likley due to the team having a weaker bullpen and the manager deciding in a close game that the team has a better chance keeping in there tired starter.
It is starting to seem that batters are hitting more home runs and pitchers are pitching less innings, I am not too sure if that has anything to do with steroids affecting bodies differently, and I wont make that estimation, but it has to be something that is effecting this.
