What to do when your baby won't stop crying

As a parent, when your baby seems unable to stop crying, it can make you feel stressed, emotional, or even frustrated. There can be times when you feel that you are doing something wrong, and may feel like you are becoming a failure as a parent. When you start to feel this way, understand it is not your fault, and try to relax. A relaxed parent is the first solution to a very upset baby. Here are some tips and suggestions on what to do when your baby will not stop crying

START SIMPLE

Start with the easiest solutions first, then work your way and try process of elimination. I found it was best to first look at what might be irritating to your baby. First check your child's diaper, some babies could care less if they are sitting in a wet or soiled diaper, while others will cry at the slightest sign of any moisture. You may also want to check to make sure his or her diaper isn't on too tight or too loose causing discomfort. The velcro straps on the diaper sides may also be rubbing on your baby's legs. Second, ensure that your baby is not too hot or too cold causing an uncomfortable baby. Change if necessary. Babies in the womb, hear the mothers heart beat and familiar voices, babies love to hear these sounds outside of the womb as well, so holding your baby close (or rocking) and talking or singing quietly can usually easily calm your baby. Even the warmth of his or her father can help as well.

BUT I JUST FED HIM(HER)!

As most parents know, their baby is constantly growing, and in turn having bigger appetites just as fast. For nursing babies, mothers can feel like they are constantly nursing. Sometimes babies nod off while being nursed, therefore falling asleep before achieving the feeling of being full. An overstimulated baby may easily be distracted before realising that his or her little tummy is not quite full yet. You may need to nurse your baby again in a calm area to allow your baby to relax and finish eating. For formula fed babies, it can seem like just yesterday he or she was only drinking two to four ounces in a bottle, the next needing four to 8 ounces. You usually don't have to worry about overfeeding an
