with decorations are a nice way to add color and flair to your hairstyle.

French rolls: If the hair is 2 inches or longer, an easy style is the french roll. Begin by parting the hair. Starting at the top, take a small section and twist it away from the temple into a roll. Work down the side of the head, adding more hair into the roll as you get to it. Once you reach your ear, fix the roll to the side of your head with mini clips, or barrettes. Bobby pins will not work, but a comb can be used by a skillful stylist. French rolls can be seriously dressed up by tucking flowers or other decorations along the roll. Another way to add decoration is to clip a small ribbon at the top, and then roll the ribbon along with the hair down the side of the head. For shorter hair, secure the roll with plain bobby pins, and spray. Make sure the bobby pins are the same color as your hair, and tuck them in completely so they don't protrude and look tacky. Bobby pins with jeweled ends can be used as another way to dress up the roll.

French braids: Very similar to the french roll, the french braid is a stable way to sweep up shortish hair. You'll need some nimble fingers, but with two inches of hair you can braid down the side of your head from temple to ear. This can be decorated in the same way as the french rolls.

Corn Rows: Instead of working from temple to ear, the hair can be swept straight back and divided into corn rows. these can bei either braided or rolled and then fixed near the crown of the head. When using rolls, the rolls can all be in the same direction, or they can roll in opposite directions on either side of the head. If the hair is very thin, this hairstyle is less successful.

These styles can be combined as creatively as you like to create a wide range of individual hairstyles. Keep in mind when combining techniques to keep it simple, do not use combs and clips and barrettes in the same hairdo, pick one accessory, and work with it. Most short hairdos benefit from a little spray or gel to keep things orderly, especially if the hair is being pinned in a direction it does not usually lie. Once the hair is finished, forget about it, do not spend the evening out rushing to the bathroom to re-do this or that. If it comes out, put your barrettes in your pocked and enjoy the evening: a lady continually fussing with her hair is extremely conspicuous.
