Christmas Without Christ?
Is it possible to celebrate the Saviors birthday without celebrating the Savior? In my personal life the answer would have to be No. I cannot celebrate Christmas without also Celebrating my Savior Jesus Christ.
Whether it is possible in general to have Christmas without Christ should be an individual freedom. There are those who exercise their religious freedom by choosing to celebrate Christmas as a holiday that revolves around presents and Santa Clause.
While others of us choose to use our religious freedom to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For us it would be impossible to have Christmas without Christ because quite simply, Jesus is the reason for our season. Jesus is the reason we celebrate.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. Likewise in celebration of the birth of our Savior we give gifts to those we love on Christmas. God gave us the greatest gift imaginable, likewise, we also give gifts to those we love. .
While it is known that Christmas began as a variety of Pagan celebrations there is no reason why everyone cannot celebrate in the way they see fit. Which for Christians around the world means celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Christmas time has been for years a combination of celebrations just as America is a combination of different cultures and religions. Which means no one should be left out. Everyone should be allowed to celebrate according to their religious or non-religious beliefs.
For years, the word for Christmas has been Christmas. Regardless of how each person or family celebrated, everyone called it Christmas. Now suddenly when everyone wants to be offended by everything under the sun people suddenly want to force Christians to celebrate Christmas without Christ.
For a Christian, Christmas without Christ is just another day. Christmas with Christ is a day of rejoicing. Sure Santa is fun but Santa is just a fictional creation dreamed up by some imaginative mind. Whereas, Jesus Christ is very real to those who know him and accept him.
In the life of a Christian, every day should resemble Christmas in that we should rejoice in the many gifts that come from the love of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Therefore, I have to say that no Christmas without Christ is not possible. For me Christmas is a time to celebrate the awesome wondrous blessings that my Lord and Savior has blessed me with. I rejoice in the colored lights and beautiful decorations.
While we understand and know that December 25th is not the actual day of Jesus birth that is the day set aside to celebrate his birth. We are not asking for a special holiday for religious reasons. We are only asking to be allowed the freedom of celebrating Christmas in a way that is of importance to us.
Those who do not believe in Jesus want to pretend that he is fictional simply because they do not believe. However, those who do know Jesus know that he is very real. Everyone knows that Santa and flying reindeer are fictional. Let the world have Santa I have no problem with that. However, let the Christians and those who love Jesus celebrate Christmas with Christ.
Some people may celebrate Christmas without Christ that is their freedom and choice. However, a Christian should never be forced to give up their freedom to celebrate Christmas by remembering the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is our reason for the season.
If America chooses to push Christ our of Christmas then what they are really accomplishing is taking away the freedom of all Christians to celebrate according to their freedom and choices. Therefore, it is my feeling that no Christmas without Christ is not possible. Moreover attempting to take Christ out of Christmas is just the first step toward taking many if not all freedom American people as a whole.
When that happens it will not be long before America will no longer be the home of the free and the brave. As our freedoms will be snatched from us one by one until there are no more freedoms left because something might be offensive to someone.
Many men and women have fought and died for our freedoms. Freedoms that are precious to us all. Freedom of religion is one of those freedoms. When freedoms are taken away then liberty and the pursuit of happiness is sure to follow.
Christmas without Christ? No, it simply is not possible because in taking Christ out of Christmas you are ignoring the rights of an entire group of people to celebrate according to their beliefs and convictions.
