Poetry: Love gone wrong

by Melanie Lowe

Created on: November 19, 2008

The scent of your perfume lingers
Hanging in the air like silken threads
Of a tangled web
Catching the light and seen for a moment
Turn away the next and they're gone
Images flicker through my mind
Scenes from a disjointed movie
It's not a game
It's not even a dream
Reality crept in unseen
You
Are my mind's constant distraction
Light follows in your wake
Moth-like, a breath-taking magnet
I am drawn, taken, floating
Drifting, drowning, feeling
Moving ever closer
As I move away
Fighting, struggling, holding on
Letting go.
Turn, and so will I
Come and I will go
I am torn
Between
A fear of love
And the need for it
Oh God, please hold me
Unfamiliar and uncertain
I need you
But
I fight it
I love you
But
I fear you
It.
Don't leave me
You are forever there
I breathe you in
I push you away
Patience...
I will come to you
I will break it
When you least expect me to
Only please
Stay?
