Is Affiliate Marketing or MLM Marketing (I would like to refer it as Network Marketing as the impression of many on MLM Marketing is usually associating with those Pyramid Scheme, which is not the case) Better? I believe this would depend on the personality of the person who is into it.

In general, both affiliate marketing and network marketing are good and if you are serious into any of the business for a long term, you can definitely make good money out of it.

How Do You Know Which Is Good For You Then?

First and foremost, let us understand the nature of each business in a general context.

Affiliate Marketing is basically a third party selling a range of product in exchange for a percentage of the sales as commission.

Network Marketing is basically a representative selling a range of product belonging to a network marketing company in exchange for a percentage of the sale and/or for the overriding commission of those who he has recruited and trained to do the same.

If you are looking at the nature of the businesses in a general context, you can easily observe that both type of business help you to make money from the sales you make.

Sounds easy to make money? Not really so...

If we are to break down some of the steps to make money in both type of businesses, we will see that we need:

In Affiliate Marketing:

1. You need to have a passion and be knowledgeable in what you are selling. This is very important and once you have that, it's relatively easier to relate to those whom you are selling to.

2. You need to be on a continuous learning curve, how many of you are passionate in learning how to build up a mailing list, create review sites. doing follow-ups, learn search engine optimization, social media marketing or even offline marketing? How about even newer content as the Internet evolves?

In Network Marketing:

1. You need to be teachable and be willing to teach others. The Network Marketing Business has been in the industry for a very long time and one does not need to re-invent the wheel to really start making money.

2. You need to be persistent and be patient with the business. This business is basically a People Business therefore you will need time and effort to teach people and duplicate what you are doing.

In conclusion, which is the better type of business will depend on how one approach in doing the business. Both businesses can make you money. And if you have the characteristics for doing both business well today, by all means do both businesses and make good money out of them. If you do not know where you stand, take on a learning journey and explore the opportunities that both offer.
