Breastfeeding is a beautiful bonding experience between mother and child. As natural as breastfeeding is, it can sometimes seem unnatural or stressful causing mother and baby to feel frustrated. When breastfeeding is successful, it will become second nature to baby and mother alike, although it is not always easy as some would expect. Breastfeeding can sometimes take time, a lot of effort, and cause unneeded stress or even pain for the mother or can be quite upsetting to her baby as well. Here are some tips and suggestions on breastfeeding comfortably and effortlessly.
RELAX AND STAY FOCUSED
In most aspects of life, staying focused and confident in your skills you will be more likely to succeed then to struggle. It is important while nursing your son or daughter, to stay calm and focused allowing your baby to also feel assured as well. If you become stressed or flustered, just try to focused and start again. Every time you sit down with your child to breastfeed, tell yourself that you are providing everything your baby requires, and that your milk supply will always be enough to ensure adequate nutrition. This allows your mind to send signals to your body that you are relaxed and will help your milk flow and supply and will help you feel confident and more comfortable in any situation or environment.
BE PREPARED
No matter the situation, or location that you are breastfeeding it is always important that you have everything you need at arms reach. To help increase milk production, and flow of your milk it is important to always have a glass or bottle of water beside you. Try to drink the whole glass while nursing keeping you properly hydrated as well. Having on hand 3 or 4 receiving blankets will help for burping, for comfort, as well as for covering your body and baby if needed depending on your comfort level. If you are on a lot of outings with your baby and you don't feel comfortable nursing in public, you may also wish to purchase a nursing blanket or cover. Nursing blankets come in a variety of styles and types so choosing one that works well for you and your baby will help you both stay comfortable and also ensure your confidence as you can usually switch your baby from one side to the other while still keeping privacy.
KEEPING YOUR BABY AWAKE
While nursing your sleepy baby, keeping him or her awake until he or she is full is beneficial. This will ensure your baby is well fed, and allow for easier transition from nursing to bed. Depending on how long you choose
