Scrapbooking is a very popular hobby and a great way to preserve your pictures and memories. But, scrapbooking can get quite expensive. All the different papers, stickers, embellishments, and albums can add up to serious money if you are not careful about it. There are some ways that you can keep up scrapbooking and still stay on your budget. You may just have to get extra creative and use your time and energy efficiently.
If you have a scrapbooking store located close next to your house, you may actually want to avoid it. You do not need to visit an actual scrapbooking store to make the best scrapbooks. Many stores that specialize specifically in scrapbooking and the albums and supplies are over-priced and quite expensive. There are plenty of different other places that you can visit and still find all the supplies that you need for your scrapbooking and stay on budget.
Visit your local dollar store for your scrapbooking supplies. You may be surprised at just how many different scrapbooking supplies and tools you can get at your dollar store. Some specific things to look out for at the dollar store are stickers, paper, albums, markers, scissors, ribbon, glue, and even little trinkets and charms that can go with your scrapbooking theme. If you have a dollar store where everything is actually only a $1, you may be able to make your own scrapbook for under $10.
Another place that you should look for scrapbooking supplies is your local discount store such as Wal-Mart and closeout stores. Depending on what kind of theme you are doing for your scrapbook, you may be able to find all the supplies that you need at these stores for half the cost. Shopping at stores like these can definitely help you stay on your budget and save money. Also, look in around your area for any paper wholesalers. There are certain places that specifically will sell paper and supplies at a wholesale price. They may not have everything that you need, but you can get at lease some of your supplies there and save some money on scrapbooking.
One way to get free supplies for your scrapbooking is to save your greeting cards that you receive and all the magazines that you may get. Greeting cards may come in handy for all kinds of different pictures for all different kinds of themes for your scrapbook. Look at how many Christmas cards you get every year. You could easily save all your greeting cards and have enough pictures to fill your scrapbook. Look through your magazines for pictures and even sayings
