2007 Super Bowl predictions

2007 Superbowl Predictions

In making a prediction for the 2007 Superbowl the contenders for the 2006 AFC and NFC Conference Championships have to be intensely studied. This year the last four teams left standing available to receive the distinguished Vince Lombardi trophy award, established for the first time during Superbowl III, are the New England Patriots, the Indianapolis Colts, the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears.

Professional football's birth is credited to being invented on November 12,1892. On that day in history William (Pudge) Heffelfinger was openly paid $500 dollars to play football in a game between the Allegheny Athletic Association football team and the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. Although many considered a 16-year-old quarterback from Indiana College in Pennsylvania by the name of John Brallier to be the first pro football player when he accepted $10 to play for the Latrobe, PA, town team on September 3, 1895.
Since its creation, where its roots come from soccer and rugby, football has been a team sport about winning. In 1972 the Miami Dolphins became the first team in NFL history to go through an entire season undefeated and untied with a record of 17 wins 0 losses and 0 ties under the leadership of coach Don Shula.
If football is a team sport, then the quarterback is the "on the field" team leader. In making a prediction for the 2007 Superbowl learning the facts can help. In this years regular season the top ten quarterbacks for touchdown passes were Peyton Manning(Ind) with 31 touchdown passes. Carson Palmer(Cin) with 28 touchdown passes. Drew Brees(NO) with 26 touchdown passes. Tom Brady(NE) with 24 touchdown passes. Marc Bulger(StL) with 24 touchdown passes. Eli Manning(NYG) with 24 touchdown passes. Rex Grossman(Chi) with 23 touchdown passes. Philip Rivers(SD) with 22 touchdown passes. Jon Kitna(Det) with 21 touchdown passes and Michael Vick(Atl) with 20 touchdown passes. It's no coincidence that four of these quarterbacks belong to our four remaining teams on their quest for the Superbowl championship. Drew Brees(NO) led the NFL in passing yards with 4418 yards passed while Peyton Manning(Ind) came in second with 4397 yards passed. Tom Brady(NE) came in seventh with 3529 yards and Rex Grossman(Chi) came in 12th with 3193 yards. Of our four remaining quarterbacks Peyton Manning(Ind) led our quartet with 362 completions. Drew Brees(NO) was one space behind him with 356 completions while Tom Brady(NE) came in seventh again with 319
