The main problem with Paypal is that they will stop at nothing to stomp out any other rival company for accepting online payments for transactions online. Ebay has used its success to create another online business that has become the most popular way to pay online for millions and milliona. I would even go as far as saying they are the internet's biggest growing monopoly.
If you who are familiar with Ebay, then you have surely heard and most likely used the Paypal service for a transaction made on Ebay, whether you were buying or selling. I have noticed over the past few years that it has become hard, if not almost impossible to stay away from using Paypal's service if you wish to do regular business on Ebay. And since Ebay owns Paypal and "pushes" it pretty hard as the only payment processor with certain features people will find appealing, it seems unlikely that any service will ever rival Paypal on Ebay unless the government intervenes in some way.
In my opinion, Ebay has a "Monopoly" on this business venue and it is a conflict of interest for Ebay and Paypal to be jointly owned considering the tactics Ebay uses to promote Paypal. Not to mention the immense growth in popularity Ebay has achieved world-wide, significantly impacting the dollars in revenue the company generates in it's industry, making it all but impossible for any other web-site's with a comparable business plan to ever hope to rival Ebay's dominance.
Paypal has become so well known to everyone that even this exceptional site, Helium, offers no other way for payments to be made to their writers. I sincerely hope that Helium will realize the value of having a marketplace more open to options and competition. I won't stop writing here for anything. I enjoy it. If I am fortunate enough to generate any income from what I write, I for one will not ask for any payment as long as Paypal is my only option.
However it's only fair that I list some of the benefits of being a Paypal user for those who haven't become victims yet. It's really easy to get join PayPal. If you have a bank account you can set up an account at PayPal in a matter of minutes. You can easily generate buttons that allow your visitors to "buy now" or "add to cart."
It's really easy to get started with PayPal. If you have a bank account you can set up an account at PayPal in a matter of minutes. You can quickly generate buttons that allow your visitors to "buy now" or "add to cart." You don't need a Merchant Account. You don't even need a gateway processor. You don't need secure server space. You don't need a security certificate. PayPal handles all of these issues for you, just as Big Brother should. PayPal is probably the simplest way to get going with e-commerce on your Web site.
