What is the difference between knowledge and common sense? Well the number one difference is that you won't find common sense in a book. You won't learn common sense by reading about it. Knowledge can be gained by reading and academics but not common sense.
I see smart people all they time struggle in life. Yes they are smart and they have much knowledge in that brain of theirs but they have no common sense. They go through life clueless. It amazes me. With all their knowledge with all their smarts they are clueless.
Common Sense is knowing an end result without having knowledge. Christopher Columbus had common sense. That's an example of someone who had common sense. The knowledge was learned or confirmed once he completed his voyage. Common sense is a gift if you have it.
Common sense is developed or maybe even in some ways innate. It may be a part of the brain that functions in some and not in others. I can't explain how one gets common sense. I know how you get knowledge. I know so many smart knowledgable people that have absolutely no common sense. The sad part is that something can happen to them and it's quite possilbe that through their life that same thing can happen over and over because they don't have common sense. For whatever reason they still did not learn from experience. It's weird. I call them circle jerks. Here is an instance where they were given the knowledge by their own experience and know the outcome or maybe they see the outcome through someone else but think it does not apply to them. They for some reason don't get it. They can be the most intelligent person, book smart and just academically brilliant and it means nothing.
Having common sense in life gives you an upperhand over those that don't have it. You can be smart don't get me wrong not everyone that is smart or academic in life lacks common sense. Vice Versa sometimes people are not book smart or academic at all but they have a lot of common sense it can go either way.
Common sense tells you that if something is hot, you are going to get burned. You don't have to stick your hand in the fire and test it to see if that is true. I don't have to read a book that tells me leaving a dog in a car on a hot summer day can kill them. Common sense will tell you that. Yet people do it all the time. Common sense says don't leave your child unattended. Common sense tells you don't let your child pick that dog up by it's tail or ears or go near their food when they are eating. You should not
