The love I lost
I remember how he looked,
the things that he would say,
the accent in his voice from living far away.
The way he would slouch back in his chair,
the way he'd look lost and stare.
The way that every time he stood up he would straighten out his shirt,
Coffee and cigerettes before he could start work,
Who goes where and who does what,
how much that it would cost.
The things that he would say just to make us laugh,
the twinkle in his eye.
Knowing he knew nothing of the feelings held inside,
and wandering what could have been if he hadn't been my boss!
The love I lost.
