Sarah Palin: Gifted communicator or eternal gaffer?

Created on: November 17, 2008   Last Updated: September 27, 2011

In the nomination process for the 44th president of the United States for the first time in history we had two women, including Hillary Clinton and Sara Palin running for the highest political offices available to anyone. Clinton lost as the runner up in the Democratic Primaries for the nomination for presidency and Sara Palin lost as the vice president running mate for John McCain. However, history was made and the first African-American man was elected president. So is it really fair to bury Sara Palin and call her a eternal gaffer at this point and believe she will only be a glimpse of what's to come in the near future?

Sara Palin was not the only reason why John McCain lost the presidency, and you got to believe this is just the beginning for Sara Palin. This instant political celebrity and gifted communicator will draw attention anywhere she plans to show up these next four years. If the Republicans were smart they would start creating a more positive backing for Palin and begin driving the case that she may be the next lead candidate for president of the United States. Which may seem like a laugher, but hey, George Bush Jr got in and he was not the popular choice back in 2000 and he lasted for eight years. If Barack Obama stumbles in this presidency the Republicans will use Palin as their secret weapon.

Sara Palin might not be exactly what the Republicans had in mind as the first woman to lead the Republicans but if Bush can why not Palin? Another downfall of John McCain, was the fact that he was so close with George Bush on many policies in the past. The Democrats and Barack Obama used this as its primary focal point against McCain. If Palin can now distance herself from all of that she might have a shot.

In total the Republicans would be foolish to just cast away Sara Palin and many should be shocked if she is not one of the names on the primary ballot in 2012 for the Republican candidate. Even as a democratic supporter and promoter of Barack Obama and from someone who has voted Democrat the last eight years, the Republicans can use Sara Palin for more good than what is perceived bad.

Despite some of the harsh criticism of Sara Palin, she is young enough and supporters of her need to use that as fuel the same way how Hilary Clinton, created popularity for herself in the democratic primaries. Clinton was constanly criticised by right wing conservatives. Palin can be the next golden girl for the Republicans these next four years. Republicans just got to believe that and forget about all of the bad publicity Sara Palin brought in this last election. Sara Palin will be a part of pop culture and the media for years to come and if the Republicans had any sense at all, they would use that in a positive twist, instead of negative press for the Republican Party.
