Gifts for the person who has everything

Now, there are several ways to approach the problem of getting a gift for the person who is wealthy enough to get whatever they really want for themselves. If they don't already have something then they probably don't really care enough about it to make it a good idea for a gift. So what do you do? Well, here are your options.

GIVE THE GIFT OF GIVING

It is more blessed to give than to receive. Well, that's true if you're a compassionate, considerate and humane person. If that's the person you are shopping for, I would advise getting the gift of compassion. Offer a donation, partnership or adoption to a charity that you know your loved one would appreciate. There is a huge downside to this gift. Here's a worst case scenario for you. If this sounds like something that might happen, then this is the wrong gift for you.

He opens the envelope and reads the gift card. "Uhhm. Okay, a child in Africa gets a goat?"

"Yes, dear. It will feed him and his family."

"Oh. And do I get a goat? I don't really want a goat,"

"No dear, the child in Africa gets the goat, not you."

"Oh, and so where's my gift?"

On the otherhand, this kind of a gift makes a very special moment, and perhaps even a lifelong commitment to a cause, if the heart is in the right place. I would recommend http://www.charitynavigator.or g/, a website that explains the best and worst charities out there. It's a good place to start.

GIVE THE GIFT OF THE UNIQUE

Finding something that is truly unique is a challenge. But it is possible, and the amount of time and effort it takes to get this kind of a present is so obvious that it always is sure to make a huge impression. A signed first edition of his favorite book, a football signed by his favorite team, a signed movie prop from his favorite movie are all really terrific ways to make a one-of-a-kind impression. Now, there are reputable dealers out there that can help you, and then you can take your chances on Ebay. First of all, I wouldn't recommend this option for anyone who is really clueless about their loved-one's interest. It could turn out really bad if you get him a Centurion helmet from the the original Battlestar Galactica, when he actually likes Babylon 5. He'll probably sell it to the ComicBookGuy and buy a Wii. On the other hand, imagine his expression when he shows off the amazing gift he got from his wife to his buddies. And the looks of jealousy on his friends' faces. And the looks of sheer rage on the faces of all THEIR significant others who got their guys
