In a lonely world, we tend to do loads of things to get and keep busy. Occupying our time is a thing that many are worried about; from gaming, smoking, gambling, drinking, and so on. It is a worrying issue when any of these becomes a must-do activity, especially when one has no more control over it. At this stage one needs all the help he/she can get to overcome such a problem.
According to wikipedia, the term "addiction" is used in many contexts to describe an obsession, compulsion, or excessive physical dependence or psychological dependence, such as: drug addiction, crime, alcoholism, compulsive overeating, problem gambling, computer addiction, etc.
In medical terminology, addiction is a state in which the body relies on a substance for normal functioning and develops physical dependence, as in drug addiction. When the drug or substance on which someone is dependent is suddenly removed, it will cause withdrawal, a characteristic set of signs and symptoms.
The term addiction is also sometimes applied to compulsions that are not substance-related, such as problem gambling and computer addiction. In these kinds of common usages, the term addiction is used to describe a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences to the individual's health, mental state or social life.
For the purpose of this article, we limit ourself to the common addiction which includes the physical and mental types.
The physical addictions is the absolute dependence on a substance or anything that one does to overcome a craving or desires, like drugs, alcohol, sex, and so on.
The mental addiction occurs when the physical addictions becomes registered in the brain, and at specific times the brain crave for the substance. At this stage then, one needs a help.
There are helps everywhere, from medication, counselling, self help, and so on. With all these, one thing always occurs, the tendency of the addict going back to the substance is always very high. The urge and temptations are very high, expecially when one is undergoing treatment.
The latest discovery reveals that self determination and convinction about oneself and believing in the power of God's deliverance can cure the problem- yes you read right "CURE" it.
With God all things are possible to him/her that believes. So, the first stage of your healing begins now and here.
Recognise the type of addiction you have- you can list them down if you like.
Determine how much that has cost you- physically, morally, spiritually, emotionally, and so on.
Think about the profit and lost.
Think about how you could have been helpful to others if not addicted.
All said and done, remmember your creator- the ONE who has the power to change all things for good.
Go now to HIM in all humility, pouring your heart and desires (about how you want to stop this canckerworm) in prayers privately asking HIM to help you get rid of the addiction. Alas HE will!
Its worked for many and will for you.
The next stage will be to testify and tell your friends about the deliverance you've received and with that, you'll increase in your freedom.
Start now- no medications, only commitment and dedication lifting up your soul to GOD- the creator of all things and the mighty healer.
Whoever the Son of Man has set free, is free indeed.
God bless you.
