How to make Christmas ornaments from pinecones

Colored flames are always a neat idea to impress others. I am going to tell you how to make ordinary pinecones burn different colors. These are perfect to give away as Christmas presents to your family or friends who own a fireplace. You could also toss them in a campfire are a neat way to bring some laughter.

Make these with common household substances and water. You can get few colored pinecones in a department or specialty store, but they are expensive to say the least. They are fun and easy to make. These make a great group project, even the kids can help.

The kids can help you gather the pinecones, spread the paper, and a few other little jobs. However, I would not allow them to mix any of the mixtures, even though these are all common household items.

Colored flames are also a great way to make people think you are very smart or perhaps a little magical. Bring out the magic in you at your next bon f ire or the next time you are sitting around the campfire.

For all of these you need to have plenty of newspapers, lots of pinecones, a bucket, or low basin, water and one household item. You'll want to create these colored flame pinecones outside on a deck or porch to minimize the mess.

To make pinecones which have light yellow or and light green colored flames you simply need borax. Put 3 cups of water in your basin or pail and add 1 cup of borax. Mix it well. When the borax dissolves, place the pinecones in the pail. Allow these pinecones to sit over night or at least 7 to 8 hours. Remove the pinecones and spread them on newspaper to dry.

To make pinecones, which have violet purple colored flames purchase some saltpeter simply put 3 cups of water in your basin or pail and add 1 cup of saltpeter. Mix it well. When the saltpeter dissolves, place the pinecones in the pail. Allow these pinecones to sit over night or at least 7 to 8 hours. Remove the pinecones and spread them on newspaper to dry.

To make pinecones, which have dark purple colored flames can be made with water softener salt. Simply put 3 cups of water in your basin or pail and add 1 cup of water softener salt. Mix it well. When the water softener salt dissolves add the pinecones in the pail. Allow these pinecones to sit over night or at least 7 to 8 hours. Remove the pinecones and spread them on newspaper to dry.

To make pinecones, which have white colored flames purchase some Epsom Salts. Simply put 3 cups of water in your basin or pail and add 1 cup of Epsom Salts. Mix it well. When the Epsom Salts dissolves, place the pinecones in the pail. Allow these pinecones to sit over night or at least 7 to 8 hours. Remove the pinecones and spread them on newspaper to dry.

To make pinecones, which have bright blue colored flames, you simply need calcium chloride which is commonly sold as rid x. Simply put 3 cups of water in your basin or pail and add 1 cup of calcium chloride. Mix it well. When the calcium chloride dissolves, place the pinecones in the pail. Allow these pinecones to sit over night or at least 7 to 8 hours. Remove the pinecones and spread them on newspaper to dry.

Once more, I am not responsible for your actions if you decide to try any of these colored flames at home. Never mix chemicals to mix colors instead you make several mixtures. When it comes to having a rainbow of colors in the fireplace, toss in a pinecone from each solution.
