Next to you
I wish I were a little monkey.
I would sit on your shoulder all day,
and sleep on your heart at night.
Or a long and mighty snake:
then I'd wrap myself around you,
and never let you go.
Or maybe a huge black panther
whereby I'd chase you,
and eat you up.
What if I were an orchid?
I'd be all fleshy and colorful,
like a mouth ready to kiss you.
I wish I were me when I am in your arms, all the time.
So I could stay in that small space where our gaze meets
and there I would live, next to you
but not quite of you.
Just a constant presence,
forever welcoming you to the realm
where every bridge leads to the Kingdom
you hold within your Soul.

And my wife
Touch Me, Tell Me
Something resides
Deep inside of each of us
Longing to reach out -
To touch another,
To take a lover or
