Visually explore the more than 70 exhibits of the most weird and wondrous aquatic creatures on the planet. Discover and explore a fantastic new world with your little ones by visiting the Amazing Jellies exhibit. Jellyfish have no bones or brains but sure can put on a fascinating and mesmerizing show for you and your family! Watch the jellies swim through 14 tanks on two stories and 5,000 square feet of pure jelli-tastic experiences. But don't think its all about the jelly fish. Along with the moon-jellies, upside-down jellies, comb jellies and Palauan lagoon jellies there are sea nettles, green tree pythons and loads of cool tropical fish. Ready for more adventures?
Now swim your way up to the Amazon rainforest exhibit where you will find 4,500 gallons of water filled with electric eels, stingrays, piranhas and anacondas who await your discovery. The tank walls reach all the way down to the floors, perfect for your little ones to get in on the water-wonder to spot the Surinam toad, schools of cardinal tetra fishes and colorful poison dart frogs. Ready for the ocean? Hurry over the Giant Ocean Tank, a four story coral reef exhibit viewable from a long winding ramp wrapped around its side. In the 200,000 gallons of water meet the exhibit star; Myrtle the green sea turtle and all of her friends including Kemp's Ridley and loggerhead sea turtles. Also try and sport the sand tiger sharks, stingrays, barracuda, moray eels and hundreds of colourful reef fish.
And hey, why not get involved with the creatures at one of the hands on areas? In these areas you and you children can: Meet a sea urchin, hold a sea star and say hi to and pet a seahorse in Edge of the Sea touch tank. Or why not explore shapes, textures and colours in the Curious George Discovery Corner. And even sign up to play with the seals or be a trainer for an afternoon at the seal exhibit. So hold your breath and plunge right in to behold an unseen world for you and your little one! The New England Aquarium Central Wharf Boston, MA 02110-3399 617-073-5200 www.neaq.com
