The French Quarter in New Orleans is a tourist destination for history buffs, architecture admirers, fans of jazz music, and those who enjoy the night life. With both French and Spanish buildings dating back to the 18th century, the French Quarter is a great opportunity to take a stroll through history while enjoying a variety of shops, restaurants, and clubs. The French Quarter also has many choices for lodging. Deciding on a place to stay can be a difficult part of planning a trip, so here are some ideas to help.

1. The Historic French Market Inn

This beautiful brick hotel was build in the 1800's and features attractive gardens and courtyard as well as spacious guest rooms. With rooms renting for around $100/night, this hotel offers the opportunity to stay in the heart of the French Quarter at a reasonable price.

Reviews for the Historic French Market Inn on Trip Advisor are mixed. Read and decide for yourself if this hotel is right for your vacation.

2. The Astor Crowne Plaza

The Astor Crowne Plaza puts guests close to the French Quarter as well as attractions such as Harrahs Casino, the
Aquarium of the Americas, Jackson Square, Morial Convention Center,
Riverwalk Shopping, the New Orleans Sports Arena and the Superdome. Room rates start at $180/night.

Trip Advisor users rated the Astor Crowne Plaza an average of three stars in their reviews. However, many of the guests leaving reviews had stayed at the Astor Crowne Plaza during remodeling.

3. The Omni Royal

The elegantly furnished Omni Royal offers 19th
century style, including marble bathrooms and executive writing desks in each room. Some rooms feature beautiful balconies where guests can relax and watch passers by at the corner of Royal and St. Louis Streets. Room rates start at $120/night.

According to urban legend, the Omni Royal is haunted, but don't let that scare you away. The most frequently sited ghost at the Omni Royal is a maid who hasn't let a little thing like death stop her from waiting on guests.

The Omni Royal is considered a five-star hotel, and Trip Advisor users are overwhelmingly positive in their reviews.

4.
The St. Louis Hotel

The four-star St. Louis Hotel has uniquely furnished rooms, many of which have walk-in closets and separate vanity areas. Furnishings are old-fashioned. Many of the rooms offer a balcony overlooking the hotel's charming courtyard. Wrought-iron detailing gives the building Spanish flare. With room rates starting at just $59/night, the St. Louis Hotel is a good choice for budget-minded travelers.

Trip Advisor users give the St. Louis Hotel mixed reviews. Many users probably would have enjoyed a more modern hotel. Decide for yourself if the old world charm of the St. Louis hotel is what you want.

5. The Hotel Provincial

With a lovely brick-lined courtyard, a fountain, and lush furnishings, the Hotel Provincial has plenty to offer. Room rates start at only $80.10/night. Like the Omni Royal, the Hotel Provincial is reputedly haunted. People who stay in building 5 of the Provincial sometimes see the ghosts of soldiers killed in the Civil War.

At Trip Advisor, the Hotel Provincial averages four stars, with most users giving it positive reviews.
