This is a 50-50 issue just like abortion is. No one is a winner. Everyone will stand firm on their beliefs on this topic. However, we are forgetting that families have not assessed and addressed this issue. That's the entire reason schools feel they have to step up. The question was if public organizations / schools should distribute condoms. In the wake of the lack of home sex education, it is ridiculous to argue this topic. Fact is families are not taking the initiative, thus, the schools are stepping up. They are doing something towards the education of our young students. They need to know the risks and the facts regarding sex. If children do not get such education and one-on-one attention or maybe the children do not feel comfortable discussing this topic with their mom or dad or both. I'd suggest that most children wouldn't want to discuss this topic with mom and dad. It's simply embarrassing to them. Instead, the issue isn't addressed. The children learn from other children. Often the other children have no idea what-so-ever what ramifications sex can have on their young age. They are speaking from extremely limited experiences as well as likely having learned incorrect information which doesn't stop them from circulating that same incorrect information onto other children. Who go on to spread the news onto others. So on and so forth.
Parents are an odd group of people. First, let me state that I am not a parent. This is by choice. I am often observing parents doing or saying things in front of their children that is inappropriate to say the least. These same parents then expect miracles from those same children. A parent might mis work often. Call off sick. Then if their child starts skipping class the parent is upset with them. Another example is if a parent berates their ex-lover in front of the child. Then they wonder why their child has a chip on their shoulder later in life when the child grows up and learns the truth. There are allot of these same examples. I don't want to go into further specifics. Instead, I want to keep this as simple as possible.
The question asking if schools or public organizations should in fact distribute condoms is pretty straight forward to me. Failure to address the issue at home makes it a public problem eventually. Parents seem to view this as schools encouraging their child to pursue sex. Fact is, the students don't typically just get condoms. They typically get a fact sheet also. Facts that the parents decided not
