Regularly running is considered one of the best workouts anyone can put in. Running is a very popular activity today. Marathons and half marathons are on many people's list of what all people should accomplish in their lives and for good reason. Running that kind of distance is considered one of the ultimate tests for physical fitness. Why is that? Because running is one of the healthiest and most beneficial activities you can do for your body.
-The primary and most alluring benefit of running is that it helps you lose weight. Running is one of the best ways to burn calories and in turn lose weight. Not only is it at the top of the calorie burning scale, but it's available for anyone to do. Anyone can go for a run because the only limitation is time.
-Running regularly strengthens our bones and muscles because of the way our bodies are made. Because our bodies are wired to meet the demand that running places on them, running will force a body to prepare for hundreds of shocks throughout its bones which will better prepare it for everyday life.
-Running at high intensities has been proven to lower the risk of breast cancer as well as heart attacks. Because your heart pumps so hard during running you increase its strength. This makes it easier to do exercise in the future. Your arteries also stretch to three times their normal size during intense running which could clear them out, lowering chances of a stroke.
-Running has been proven to raise your "good" cholesterol which makes you overall healthier. Running also exercises the rarely used 50% of your lungs to make them stronger. Running also promotes the production of white blood cells which fight against all diseases.
-Running has many psychological effects such as a feeling of empowerment, a sense of accomplishment, a relief of stress and a generally good attitude. The achievement runners feel each time they beat an old record or distance helps them cope with everyday life and gives them something to look forward to everyday.
-Running can help many people when you join a marathon to cure cancer or to help the impoverished. Running in these marathons is good for everyone as it gives the runner a sense of accomplishment and it is all for a good cause.
Running is a great way to maintain general health, but like all things it should be taken in moderation. Resting your body is very important to running because overdoing it would be very unhealthy. Even running marathons should only be done once in a while because of the enormous demand it takes on the body. Running in moderation is great for the body and I would recommend it to anyone looking to lose a few pounds, or even just find a relaxing environment.
