Inspiration from a Window: The Cottonwood Blues
Just as the leaves of an old cottonwood float the incompetent;
Those that lack the fortitude to even break a sweat and try,
They'd rather lie down and cry.
Drifting in a gutter from their puddle of tears; asking "why."
Waiting for a gust of wind to come in and blow them away from their problems.
Only to land in another yard full of the same kind of leaves; waiting, hoping,
But will only be good to decompose and enrich the soil.
But "why not?" Why not instead of mulch, give the world more oxygen to breath?
Why not remain on the branch of that strong rooted tree?
Why not face that storm, strong with others, to make up the most magnificent tree seen?
Don't fall and wait on that gust of wind, remain in the tree and be forever green.
