As a species man needs to figure out his own purpose on this planet. You'd think that it is an easy task to take on... After all, it is what any other species would do; the adult elephant guides the teenager to wisdom, otherwise chaos prevails. Animals need to keep the balance in mother nature's kingdom, and that is all they need to know... Meanwhile the elders teach the youngsters how to get there. We are not different, or we were not until our elders started developing issues... not on their own no... but now the youngsters follow the pattern. It is very strange isn't it.Why is it so difficult for man to make it?
Is it our conscience? our reason? Did we forget the most basic rules of existence? Did we forget that for a society to work, the individual constituting it had to be happy?
Man is intelligent and invents things to make his life easier... so he shifts the balance of mother nature to his advantage without caring about the consequences... I am not saying we should go back to the Stone or Middle age. But, all that we have done is creating standards we cannot live up to... at least not all of us. We locked ourselves in a material world where dreams barely exist... still talking about the majority of the world population. I am not preaching chaos, but I am concerned. If our society standards were so good and beneficial to man, why on earth are we crawling under so much crime and hate? Why is life so hard for so many? and easy for too few?
I have a theory, if you care to read it...
Five years ago, I turned my life around. I was unhappy, alone and clueless of who I was. I hated my job and the worse part, I was completely unaware of it. Now I write... I do not make money, but that is my career. I will take a side job eventually, but it will not be my career unless it involves writing.
How did I get to this point? Let me show you:
When I was a teenager, my head was in the clouds and my dreams were way out of my league... at least, I believed them to be my dreams. I wanted to be recognized by rock stars, I wanted to be needed by the spotlights... I figured that the best way to do that would be to work as a sound engineer (I have never been much of a musician). I had that funny revelation one year before high school. Hence I worked very hard towards that goal. Unfortunately, maths and physics did not agree with me, so I was reoriented in Economics and Social Sciences. I hated it but I was better at it, therefore I hanged on. I sent applications to movie/music schools
