The psychology of online poker

The psychology of online poker? What does that term mean? Who does that term affect? These are just some of the questions that are evolving in this new age, we know as the online poker industry. There is cause for great concern, there are stressors that can take control over your world and not even be seen by ones closest of close friends. People can lose everything with the click of a mouse, they can become depressed and insecure all at the click of the mouse, sure they could also win that big jackpot and live the American dream everyone yearns for.

In reality however for eveyone one person who gets lucky enough to live that American dream there are 4 million other sorry people who have jeopardized everything they have ever come to know. So is it worth it? And does this game of online poker really have psychological affects? Two not so simple answers are, no it is not worth it, and you can bet your bottom dollar that it takes it toll on the mind and soul. So all in all I really am just writing this short little article to bring awarness and by no means am I trying to preach, all I am saying is before you become invovled with a beast that is still young and un researched know what you are getting yourself into, and know the affects it could cause mentally or psychologically. This world known as online poker can be a demon of upper proportions, it can take over your mental world and drive you to the brink of no return.

If you do not allow yourself the ability to ease your mind once in a while you will be killing yourself slowly with the stress your body is absorbing and at the end of the day ask yourself, is all this worth it just for a game and a buck? If you are lucky enough to be a parent, a brother, a sister or just a friend of someone dear than take a look in the mirror and put your greed aside for one moment and ask yourself one more question. What is the psychological effects that are inflicted on my loved ones, how will there minds cope?

Now if you sit back after reading this and still think that online poker has no affect on ones state of mind than I am sorry my friend you are just to far gone. If you can seriously look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are strong enough mentally to take on the guilt of destroying those close to you, than by all means pick up your mouse and click those chips away, just remember when you hit rock bottom and have no where to turn, you better hope that those loved ones you pushed aways and hurt are mentally strong enough to accept you back and help you up.
