Women and virtue

I find it hard daily to become,

A lady of Proverbs 31.

I try to sew a garment or two,

but the end result will never do!

I try to buy and sell,

but the mistakes I've made, I won't tell!

My children run off and make a scene,

and they look like they are never clean!

I was suppose to head out to the main gate,

but of course today I was running late!

My husband ignores me and tunes me out,

it makes me so mad that I yell and pout!

Dinner is burned and the bills are past due,

Laundry is mounting and I lost my other shoe!

Dear Lord, please, please help me,

Oh God, can't you see,

I'm struggling to become

A Lady of Proverbs 31!

It can be a struggle, but it isn't impossible to be a lady of Proverbs 31 or a lady of virtue. I am as far away from perfect as I can be, I have no great secrets, no absolute answers for my life, let alone anyone else's life.

I try my hardest to do what God is asking of me, but it is hard. No, not hard, down right difficult. I do not like having to decide what to do my will or God's will. I do not like having to follow God when I really want to do what I want to do. I am fully aware of what I need to do and I still don't do it all the time.

I know that I want to become a Lady of Proverbs 31, a virtuous lady, and I know that I can't do that if I spend more time in my own will and more doing what I want to do instead of God's will and following God's plan for my life.

What am I willing to give up? This isn't a topic for just today, it is a topic for every minute of every day and every situation that comes up.

I feel often that I am standing alone in this struggle and I feel that because I believe that all my fellow ladies should be standing with me struggling together. I have to give up my idea that all ladies should be at the same point in their walk with Christ. I need to understand that we are all struggling at different points in our lives. What am I willing to give up? My sins, my desire to cherish some of those sins, the desire to live with those sins and be content to excuse my sins.

I am willing to give up to Christ my fear of standing alone during my walk with Christ, and ask him to bring to me the ladies that are willing to stand with me and walk with me into a deeper relationship with Christ. I need other ladies with a heart for Christ to walk with me and support me as I offer them support and company during the walk to becoming a lady of Proverbs 31, a virtuous woman.
