Appraising America's security in a post 9/11 era

Appraising America's security in a post 9/11 era

In the post 9/11 era, The American Public has slowly slipped back into as sense of false security. It only mirrors our lack of concern during the 1990s with WTC I, Embassy bombings, USS Cole bombing, and other terrorist attacks around the world on the heels of a 40% cutback in CIA operatives. WTC I did not stimulate a sense of urgency to the fifth columnist presence in this country, and WTC II has only led America down the same path.

Complacency is similar due to the numbers of years since 2001 without further major terrorist attacks on American soil. The lack of further attacks can be attributed to a number of reasons.

First, terrorist organizations have feared a "knee jerk" reaction by President George Bush militarily against their interests nationally.

Secondly, there is growing American dissent to U.S. involvement in Iraq and other countries where the terrorist breed and train. Further attacks would only fuel the Bush administration to retaliate, gaining the American publics support through a sense of patriotism.

An analogy would be the train bombings in Spain by terrorists in 2004. The populace had no concerns of terrorism, and the President of Spain was popular. The President running for re-election was pro-democracy and anti-terrorism. The bombings put the anticipated fear in the populace and a new president, whose policies were more acceptable by terrorists, was elected. This presented an environment in Spain for the terrorists to co-exist without government scrutiny and disruption. An act of terrorism in Spain was necessary to produce the right political environment to prevent detection of their network.

The reverse policy by terrorist organizations in the United States since 9/11 is true.

By not committing terrorism to any large degree in the United States in post 9/11, the terrorist organizations have seen the expected "Vietnam syndrome" by the American public. They have become hostile to the war on terrorism by the United States around the word, and apathetic about any future terrorist attacks in this country. Community disaster preparedness to prevent and mitigate terrorism has slowed to a large degree over the years since 9/11.

The presidential election of 2008 has produced a liberal Democrat as the new president, which was more desirable to terrorists over a hawk-like conservative leader.

This set of scenarios is the stage of things to come. Open borders and years of preparation and planning by our enemies have allowed them to collect the logistics necessary to renew terrorist attacks in this country. Google "American Hiroshima" for documented proof that terrorists have horrific plans for this country in the post-Bush and post 9/11 era.
