noise to this motion, such as Cesar's "tsshht" sound.
If your dog is aggressive toward other dogs, seek help from friends, family or trainers who are comfortable allowing their dogs in his presence while you train him into submission. Seek the company of calm, balanced dogs to help your aggressive dog learn about appropriate social interaction. In this circumstance, you can use the method of blocking him with your body as well as redirecting his attention at the onset of aggression. Incorporate him into group activities with these dogs, such as playing fetch.
Do not allow possessiveness or aggression with toys. If he displays this, make him drop the object. Do not pull it from his mouth. Point to the ground and tell him to drop it. When he does not drop it- gently, but firmly press the corners of his mouth and repeat "drop it". This motion forces his mouth to open and the toy falls to the ground. Use your body to back him away from the toy and you can pick it up from the ground. Remember- you own the toy, not the dog.
As with all other dogs- treat him with kindness, respect and offer consistent routine. Do not offer affection unless he is calm and exercise him daily. Working with dogs gives us the opportunity to work on ourselves. We must maintain the right attitude and project the sense we want from him- calm, cool and collected.
Helping an aggressive dog can be exhausting, time consuming and rough on our hearts, but aggressive dogs deserve the same chance as every other dog. All dogs, regardless of breed and background, are inherently good creatures- some just require more work than others do. Use all available resources for help and do not give up on him or yourself- your patience and hard work is rewarding you both with a positive and healthy life.
