Exercise is a healthy, natural way to relieve stress. Whether you have a lot of work piling up or you just want to reduce daily minor tension, getting daily exercise is crucial to being healthy and content.
There are many different ways in which exercise helps eliminate stress. First, working out stimulates your body to release endorphins. Endorphins are compounds that produce a general sense of well being. When people refer to "runner's high," that is what they are talking about. So although exercising can seem exhausting, it also produces feelings of relaxation.
Another way in which exercise helps you relieve stress is that a regular work-out will give you energy while you are awake and make you more tired to go to sleep. This ensures that you are not sluggishly drudging through your work, which might make you procrastinate and create more stress but also, it'll prevent you from losing sleep over stress. Regular exercise helps regulate sleeping and give you a more deep and restful sleep.
It might seem like incorporating an exercise schedule into your daily routine might add more stress by taking away from other responsibilities. But it's important to keep in mind that regular exercise leads to more energy. This energy will keep you focused which has been proven to increase efficiency.
The best way to start on a good stress-fighting exercise regimen is to set aside a couple of hours a week to work out. Some people find that exercising in the morning helps them wake up and tackle their day. Other people prefer to exercise at night and get to bed soon after their workout. The only person that can tell you which time of day is right for you, is you. Once you make a schedule, make sure you stick to it.
Having a schedule helps you easily incorporate exercise into your busy life without it feeling like it's interfering with your life. If you know that you work out Tuesdays after work, you can plan accordingly so you don't leave anything to do at that time.
Working out with a friend is a good way to help you stick to your schedule and keep your life stress-free. You and your work-out buddy can help keep each other motivated to go on a run or hit the gym. Working out with friends is also a good way to reduce the stress in your schedule, because then working out will feel like a break from your busy life, instead of just another item on your To Do list.
Though a lot of people experience the benefits of exercise right away, it's better to get into the habit of exercising to reduce stress to maintain your life as stress free as possible. People who exercise regularly are better equipped to handle whatever comes along. Try it yourself. You'll see that a great night's sleep and the added energy makes a world of difference.
