Another cheap cell phone alternative is to get your boss to purchase cell phones for work usage. Many businesses today are springing for their employees to have work cell phones so that the boss can call you anytime of the day or night. Just as long as you aren't using the phone for a lot of personal business, they seem to be okay with it. And the boss won't mind you using it for emergency situations, such as calling the boss in the middle of the night, to tell her about your great work related idea. You may even be able to get your boss to pay for you cell phone because you are on call, or you are on the road many hours of the day.
There are many cheap cell phone alternatives and even some inexpensive plans. Just don't let the sales person talk you into cell phone insurance, or buying more than you really need. Buy the minutes you know you will need per month and get a plan that offers free text messaging, and free long distance calls. Otherwise, you might be utilizing the string can method of calling your friends.
