Who were the Wise Men? The Wise Men are know as the three Kings; the three Wise Men; and the Kings of the East. In the Christian teachings they are know for visiting Jesus after his birth. According to some scholars the three Wise Men followed were guided by the Star of Bethlehem. It is said that it took the three Wise Men a week (January 6th) to visit Jesus. When arriving to where Jesus was born they gave him three gifts that became symbolic in the Christian faith. Those gift were: Gold, Frankincense(Obtained from trees of genus. it is use as perfumes and incense), and Myrrh(a reddish-brown material of the tree Commiphora myrrha. According to many teachings they a number of reasons why they visited Jesus; but according to documents their reason for visiting was because they were warned through their dreams that there will be deadly intentions for the child (Jesus)as they Journey to Jesus a man called Herod tried to trick them into reviling where Jesus was, but they were not tricked. When returning home from their journey they decided to take a different route home so that they may not give up the location of Jesus to Herod. This motivated Herod to kill every innocent child in Bethlehem (Massacre of the Innocents). His motive for this act was to attempt to eliminate the heir to his throne that Jesus and his family had. Herod fail in his attempt when Jordan (Jesus earthly father) had recieved a message from God, while in his sleep, that he should get Jesus, his wife Mary and himself out of the city as fast as possible. Since their journey of the three Wise Men the day of their visit to Jesus became a day of celebration. It is know as the Three Kings Day. It is the day of celebrating their journey to Jesus and for not giving up Jesus' location. It is unknown to what their real motive was for their visit but the teachings of the Christian faith states that they knew that Jesus was the messiah and the son of God.
Whatever the teaching ot the National holidays the journey of the three Wise Men should be know by man of all faith and taught to every generations to come. Especially those of the Christian faith; the three wise men as part of out faith and should be taught our children and their children's children. This Journey represent the love for Jesus in such purity that does not exist in our lives. The Journey of these men capture our values and hopes in such a way that we fail to recognize that we will not do such things as the wise men had done themselves.
