it was better than the same advert that was being played on the radio: "That's ASDA Price", which was beginning to get quite irritating. The day gradually became easier when the music started playing. There were different sorst of artists being played at different periods of time, but it was kept in the same type of genre, just the year of the music was strange. Well, it was the radio.
Couple of years on, I am now working as a Sales Assisstant in a computer game shop. There is just so much to do - when it's busy - there isn't a lot of time to just stand about and think what song is coming on next, or decide whether or not you enjoyed the song the that was previously playing. When my job place gets dead quiet, like just me and my fellow colleagues standing about, begging the public to come in and enquire about something to do with a certain accessorie, sometimes it is wind in the ears when the music starts to play. It makes us smile, dance about like lunatics, have a right laugh, get the zombie-like life style thwarted away again. Music brings happiness to people. Boredom brings misery, a lack of concentration, but music can also be a distraction, depending on the circumstances. When music plays, it sometimes gets the day going a bit quicker, too. It makes the work place enjoyable, at ease, allows you to hum or sing along to it, as long as you are keeping yourself busy with the task at hand; putting games on shelves, or helping customers, or handing out leaflets, the music was still playing in my head because I had enjoyed listening to it, when I should have been concentrating on helping people in the store. Again, with the distraction, but it had brought entertainment to a group of lifeless co-workers that didn't have anything to do.
Unless music is permitted in a certain working environment, people should make the attempt to just get the work done, keep themselves busy. There's a time and a place for music, and working isn't one of them.
