When it comes to the working environment, you are there to work, not to listen to music. Music, even though entertaining, can be distracting. I'm twenty years old. My favorite music comes from Coldplay and The Calling. At home, I always listen to these bands. I find their songs to be peaceful, soothing, enjoyable. When you're out on the streets, collecting groceries for yourself, or for relatives, and then comes along an ignorant youth in his car, with the fixed up exhaust, the reving of the engine, the gangster life style of the paint work on their cars, you begin to think how on earth they can possibly concentrate on everything that is going on around them in the street, never mind the car in front of them! After I had finished my five hour shift, I returned to my family car, a silver Vectra Vauxhall. I was proud of the car. I liked it the way it was. A car I could drive, something to be proud of. Even though silver is a common color used for cars nowadays, I was still grateful that my parents had gone through the trouble of trying to get me ensured on the vehicle. The thoughts of what the car would look like with that horrible mixture of gangster grafitti painted on it, just didn't appeal to me in the least. I turned on the song "Fix You" by Coldplay. Once I turned on to the main part of the motorway, I discovered that I was already exceeding five miles over the speed limit. Thankfully, there weren't any speed cameras about, otherwise that might have been difficult to explain to the parents how I had managed to receive a speeding ticket after only two weeks of passing the test.

I just thought I'd give out an example as to why music is distracting. It makes us lose concentration. Concentration is a vitality when it comes to work, especially to younger or experienced car drivers. I do not even make a point in bringing my personal music player to work anymore, afraid of getting a speeding ticket, or doing worse. Sometimes music is an essentiality to different working environments. Whether or not it is permitted in your work place, you should either find solutions to the problem, or ask for permission by the Boss. Music, depending on the type of music; either rock, gothic rock, hardcore metal, death metal, rock, dance...it really depends on what catches your boat. When I was having a week of work experience in a local supermarket, about ten minutes from my college, music was playing everyday. Sometimes it became annoying, like it was a constant necessity. Well,
