Once they are sitting repeat opening the door again.
Once they continue to sit with the door open step outside. If the dogs move, step back inside and get them to sit again. Once you able to step outside with your dogs still sitting, invite the dogs outside and make them sit again as you close the door.
This may seem like a lot of work but the way you put the leash on them and step outside sets the tone of the entire walk. You will find this procedure goes faster after your dogs practice it a few times.
6. Walk assertively - Walk assertively with your dogs on each side. Once you got them all walking in the forward direction, just keep walking. Pick a spot way in the distance to look at and walk towards it.
7. Automatic Leash Correction - Because of the twisted leashes, they should remain in their position. Here's the best part. If you have a good walking dog attached to the bad walker with a Halti collar, the good walking dog corrects the poor walker for you.
8. Plan your route Because of the number of dogs, you need to plan your route and rest stops. Don't let the dogs sniff around any time they want. Stop halfway through your walk for a pit stop. Better yet, find a dog park and let the dogs run free. You'll find that the pit stops are the most difficult part of the walk because you'll need to re-organize the dogs.
9. Going Back Inside your Home - Once you return home, use the step inside procedure just like the step outside procedure. All dogs must be sitting before you open the door and step inside. Then, invite the dogs to join you inside.
10. Finish with Training - Once inside, it's a good time to provide some training. I put all the dogs in a sit, down, stay position. I take all of the collars off, put them away, and take my shoes and coat off keeping the dogs in the down position the whole time. After that, I let my dogs roam the house by saying "Okay".
Although this method takes practice, it works like a charm. My neighbors are amazed at the level of control that I have over my dogs and so will your's.
