TIME, MY COMPANION TO THE END

When we met you slowly marched along beside me

I prayed you would move faster

As impatiently I dreamed childish dreams about tomorrow

Eventually you caught up with me and we danced together as one

I did not notice you were slipping away

To the young you last forever

You now move so swiftly things whirl past me in a blur

The me that was no longer is

A stranger stares back from my mirror

The friends I had have gone away but will be seen again

Where the whirling ends

In the place where you are not

You will soon leave but for now we remain

Together you and I

For there is still much for us to do

We can love and laugh, we can see and feel

All the beauty that is ours this day

Tomorrow they are yours alone for I no longer am

You are not needed where I must go my companion to the end

For time has neither place nor home

Where eternity begins
