Planning a wedding should be one of the most exciting events in your life but it can be stressful if wedding costs are allowed to spiral out of control. Here are some tips to cut out any unnecessary wedding costs so you can still have money left over to enjoy once the wedding is over.
Keep the guest list to a minimum by inviting only close family and friends who matter most and who genuinely want to participate and share in your joy, so if the budget is tight keep the list light.
Use a marquee and have your wedding reception at home. Marquee companies include decorations and table ware at an additional cost but cut this down by using the help of an artistic family member or a friend. Use a local florist rather than high street florists as their charges will usually be higher. If you prefer a hall reception because of a larger number of guests use a local community hall rather than a hotel. This is a cheaper option and price can be negotiated if you know the members personally.
If the number of guests is large, have the food prepared professionally as the cost of self catering will soon mount up as will unwanted stress in case anything goes wrong. Get different quotes before you decide on one. For a smaller wedding get family involved in cooking and look for places to shop which are competitive in price.
Rent your wedding dress rather than buying it outright. This option not only saves you money but in the long run it is the most practical solution considering the dress will hang in your wardrobe or need storage for years to come.
Music can be provided by a DG friend or make your own personal compilation to play on the day. This will save on using the services of a professional DJ.
Borrow the wedding car from a friend rather than leasing an expensive vehicle just for one day.
Photographers can be quite expensive so get several quotes before you decide on one. Prices can vary depending on time taken by the photographer and the number of photographs that you would like. If someone you know offers his services cheaper or you know a family member who will take the photographs free, take that option.
Have your honeymoon at a local area you both have never explored before rather than going abroad to an expensive hotel. The main aim is to be together and share time together.
The key to saving on wedding costs is accepting help from family and friends. They can prove invaluable as they provide their different skills free of charge and they can all contribute in making your day both memorable and unforgettable.
