Do we need humor on a daily basis?

Yes

I believe we all could use humor on a daily basis. It's healthy to laugh. It makes moments and parts of our days less stressful. Humor makes life more fun and interesting. Kidding around at work or at home, with friends or anyone for that matter brings a smile and sometimes much laughter.

Let's face it life is not easy. If we take everything too seriously and don't find humor or make our own humor than life is even tougher. Isn't it nicer to go to work and share a laugh or two? We still go to work we have too, but why not kid around a bit, tell a joke or a funny story or look at something in a humorous way. Why not go to a meeting and find a way to make people laugh and break up the tension and stress when an opportunity arises?

Humor puts us in a good mood. Laughter and humor are contagious and that's a good thing. Hearing other people laugh makes you laugh. it's great. Why not try to make the best out of each day and find a bit of humor? I personally think we need it. I know I do. I love watching comedies and laughing. I love playing practical jokes or gettng a funny email, sending a funny email. It feels good to laugh and make others laugh.

One day a friend of mine from work came to help me bring my dog to the vet. Keep in minc my dog weighs 160 lbs he does not like gettng in cars or trucks and he hurt his leg. My husband and kid were away and I had to get him into my car and to the vet. So I called upon a coworker who lives close by and asked if could help. Neither one of us were prepared for what was about to happen. We knew it would be tough getting him in the car but really had no clue as to what we were in for and how hard we would have to work to coax the dog and literally pick him up off the floor and get him into my truck. We had an easier time gettng him to the vet but when we left the vet's office my dog decided that he was going to lay down in the parking lot and not move. Now we had a problem. Here is my friend all dressed up for a work appt. with me and my dog. I can not begin to tell you what we had to do this day. We struggled with this dog like you can't believe. We first started running back and forth to the car trying to get him to move or excited to get up. Than we tried to trick him into thinking I was leaving as though that might work. We tried bribery with food and treats you name it.

My friend had a meeting and the clock was ticking away, the stress was building and we were becoming more determined and I must admit frustrated. We finally got him to the side of my car an Element which is sort of high off the ground. He had no intention of cooperating my dog just sat there, he would not budge. I was trying to lift his front paws while John my friend was trying the get the back, that did not work then we switched places he was yelling okay lift his back..lift and I was saying I am, well all of a sudden I just broke down in complete laughter. It hit me here is my friend who is struggling, sweating, huffing and puffing with my dog while my husband and kid are away, he not only is getting exhausted but he is full of hair and slobber. I just found the whole thing funny. i don't think he did at this point. I was now useless and my friend finally got so determined that he looked at the dog and said." okay what are you 160 lbs. I CAN DO THIS". Well after two back breaking attempts he did. Needless to say he had dog hair all over his face, in his mouth and eyebrows, all over his pants, he was covered. We took one look at each other and laughed.

It was stressful, and I felt terrible too as he looked as though he went through some horrible storm, all messed up and out of place and now had to get to a meeting and he was also running late because of this. All we could do though was laugh and in the end he turned to me and said well at least we have a good story. To me this is finding humor. Taking a stressful situation and finding humor in it. We both left that day laughing. We were not stressed or angry we were laughing and both got to work that day with a good story.

I know some people in my life that would have gone through the same thing and they would not have found it funny at all. But who is healthier? I used this story as an example of taking a stressful situation and finding humor in it. We both had a better day because we laughed and shared the story with others who laughed too.

Everyday we wake up to me is a good day. Every day there is a moment we can find time to make a joke hear a joke or find humor in something. Humor is a great and we need it because it's healthy. Life is tough at times and we need to be flexible in order to deal with it and along with the flexibility we need to find humor.
