The Ride

The crowd screams
The adrenaline starts to rush
They call out his name
As they prepare the rope.

Does he do it for the honor?
Does he do it for the glory?
Does he do it for the attention?
Or just for the story?

He screams let's go
The gates open wide
He begins to take
His eight second ride.

As he holds on
He begins to think
Of all the things he learned
In the practice ring.

He's eight seconds are up
As he jumps to the ground
They call out his score
And he begins to smile.

He returns to the back
With his pride and joy
His little girl waiting
For him to hold.

He picks her up
And holds her tight
She begins to laugh
At the clowns in sight.

She says " Daddy I love you!
I hope you know that!"
He says " I love you too!
And that is a fact!"

As the night ends
And they drive away
Back to their home
That is out of the way.
He tells her a story
About the ride he just made.
She falls asleep
With a smile upon her face.
