In Remembrance
I stood in the midst of a sea of people
All standing united in remembrance
In silence four planes fly by
And canons roared while we remembered
And I wondered how many of those standing remembering
Had lost someone in conflicts of the past and the present
I have not been touched by a war death yet
But my heart ached for those who have been
A tear rolled down my face
For strangers who willingly answered the call to duty
And lost their lives for my freedom
We may not think of their sacrifice daily or weekly
But once a year we bow our heads to remember
Husbands and fathers, mothers and wwives, sons and daughters
Sisters and Brothers, Aunts and Uncles and yes even strangers
Who gave their lives in conflicts past and present
So we the living may live not in fear of war but in peace and freedom
And so if we don't thank you or remember you everyday
Please forgive us
But know that at least once a year on a day dedicated in your honour
We bow our heads and in the silence of two minutes we remember you
And thank you with our hearts, minds and souls
For the peace and freedom your sacrifices have given us
Lest we forget. Lets always Remember

His turn to trudge,
Along an unpredictable weave,
In a march
The night air is filled with the smell of burning
The smell on the wind is a familiar one it comes from the past moving
It's time to light your candle so all are able to see
It's time to talk to Mr. Crandell, one of those who

A veteran's tear is a person's smile,
A soldier's heart is the American part.
All the cost is,
All the love ones lost.

There are those who loved their country
Who gave everything away
Their home, loved ones, and comforts
For freedom's future
