As a woman ages, many times her lips will start to get thinner. Many women think that they just have to live with thin lips but there are some options out there for getting bigger lips. These remedies for thinning lips also work for woman who have never had big lips and want to make them bigger. So, if you are a 60 year old grandma or a 25 year old woman in the prime of your life, you can benefit from any of these options for getting bigger lips.

The first thing that you have to decide when wanting big lips is if you want to go the professional route and see a cosmetic surgeon or do you want to stay with home remedies that you can do yourself.

If you are looking at visiting a cosmetic surgeon about getting big lips you may want to check into hyaluronic acid injections. You may have seen commercials on the television for Juvederm, which is the number one hyaluronic acid used for getting bigger lips. These lip injections typically cost anywhere between $500-$1000 for both the top and bottom lip injections. One Juvederm injection will last approximately 6-12 months. The lip injections only take around 10 minutes but they can be quite painful. Most doctors will give a nerve blocker along with a topical anesthetic to make the lip injections more bearable. After the injections, the woman's lips may look swollen for up to 24 hours and can appear bruised for up to a week. After the swelling and bruising has gone done, the woman will be left with bigger and fuller lips.

Another injection that you can get for bigger lips are collagen injections. These lip injections usually go by the name CosmoDerm or CosmoPlast. They are injections made from purified human collagen to make the lips appear bigger. Collagen injections will approximately cost $400-$800 for both lips. The collagen injections last slightly shorter than the Juvederm injections, as they will last around 4-6 months. The recovery process for these lip injections is the same as with the hyaluronic acid injections, with swelling and bruising lasting up to a week.

If you rather not spend tons of money on visits to a cosmetic surgeon and suffer through painful lip injections, there are a couple of options that you have for at home remedies for thin lips. The at home products are just temporary, but they can give you bigger lips for when you have a special date or occasion.

Try using a lip product that has irritants in it, such as cinnamon, which causes the blood to rush to the lips and make them appear bigger. Although this only may last a couple of hours, depending on the product, it's good option if you only want bigger lips for a special occasion or a date.

You can also try hydrating lip products that help pump up the volume in your lips. There are quite a few of these products available on the market nowadays and you can even find lipsticks and lip glosses that will help make your lips bigger. Check around your local drugstore for these products.

One trick that you can use to make your lips appear bigger, is to wear a bold lipstick with the matching lip liner. Try going for a matte red color and line your lips just outside the natural lip line. Your lips will not look dramatically bigger, but it will give you a nice fuller pout. Use this tip when you have a date or special occasion, as bold red lips may not be suitable for everyday wear.
