Working in this world of freelance writing is exciting, thrilling, and overwhelming at times. While it allows parents to work at home, one can still have a family life, but you often are working more because it takes a lot of searching for the right gig that makes you tons of money. Perhaps what you need is a hidden freelance writing gig, to make the searching easier on you.

Most of the writing sites that are widely know the competition is fierce to get the good stuff. The good stuff, the hidden freelance writing gigs are elusive at times. I am offering you a hand up, not out on these. I will not give links to these hidden freelance writing gigs, because a very talented writer Michy has done that already. How about writing some quirky e-cards as a freelance writer, if you can write witty or quirky then you could design some e-cards or regular greeting cards. These are simple to write, and pay decent. Send in multiple suggestions are these need to be original and even if one pays off you could still have at least $50.00 dollars more then when you begin.

Write for your favorite magazines, trust me some of the biggest magazines out there are mostly freelance writers. Some of these pay a few cents a word, but hey, for even a penny a word a thousand word article sure adds up in the right direction.

Writing a column for your local newspaper in exchange for money or gift certificates are a good way to get your name known in the writing world offline. I know of one man who began writing restaurant reviews for a local newspaper in exchange for gift certificates so he could take his wife out. This was very clever of him to do and inventive as well.

The great paying gigs are hard to come by, and sometimes hard to keep as well. In this world of freelance writing you could be working today for a site, does not mean that you will be working for that site tomorrow. At times, it is by no fault of your own.

Just remember when one door closes another has to open. When one freelance gig ends, get out there and do something else, more challenging. Me I am headed into unfamiliar challenges but I am so looking forward to it.

I thought I had found that excellent opportunity in the middle of May but by mid July, it was gone for me. I did have other things to fall back on, as I began branching out and writing for a few sites early this year. I was just getting by on these other sites because they are lower paying jobs. I write on three different sites, but I am always on the look out for hidden freelance writing gigs for the extra money I need to support my family.
